Riley Johnson, age 83, of Cadiz, Ky., died Saturday, January 2, 2010, at VA Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn. He was of the Baptist Faith. He was a US Army veteran serving in WW II, with the 17th Cavalry Reconnaissance Squad. He received the Purple Heart, Oakleaf Cluster, 2 Bronze Stars, European African Middle Eastern Campaign Ribbon, Presidental Unit Citation and the Good Conduct Medal. He was a member of The VFW, American Legion. He is survived by his Two Daughters, Vicki Taylor of Cadiz, Ky. and Beverly Sue Flanagan of Woolridge, N.J. One Son, George Johnson of Cadiz, Ky. Twenty grandchildren and Thirty Two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in Death by: Father-George Louis Johnson and Mother-Annie Mae (Sueade) Johnson. Wife-Rose Lee Johnson, Son-Leslie Johnson, Granddaughter-Stephanie Johnson, Five brothers and one sister. Arrangements are being handled by Goodwin Funeral Home, Inc., 138 Main St. -P.O. Box 2050, Cadiz, Ky., where the family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM Tuesday, January 5, 2010. Funeral service will be at Goodwin Funeral Home of Cadiz, KY at 12:00 PM Tuesday, January 6, 2009 , Reverend Mark Choate officiating. Interment with full military honors will be at Kentucky Veteran's Cemetery West in Hopkinsville, Ky. Memorial contributions can be made to the Disabled American Veterans.
