Herschel J. Thomas, age 95, of Cadiz, KY, died Friday, February 18, 2011, at Shady Lawn Nursing Center in Cadiz, KY. Mr. Thomas was retired from Goodyear Tire Co. in Akron, OH, was a WW II US Army veteran and was a member of Akron Baptist Church in Akron, OH. He was survived by: Two Brothers & Sisters-In-Law - Olen Ray & Martha Sue Thomas, Mayfield, KY, Fred & Eva Thomas, Milton, FL. Three Sisters & Brother-In-Law- Ruth Meador, Cadiz, KY, Thelma & Howard King, Blacksburg, VA, Lottie Mayche, Franklin, TN. He was preceded in death by: Wife - Sudie L. Ricks Thomas on October 11, 2000, Father - John Taylor Thomas, Mother - Myrtle Chewning Thomas, Two Brothers - Lonnie Thomas & Guy Thomas, One Sister - Eunice Sumner. Arrangements are being handled by Goodwin Funeral Home, Inc., 138 Main St. -P.O. Box 2050 Cadiz, KY 42211-031 in Cadiz, KY where the family will receive friends after 4:00 PM on Sunday, February 20, 2011. Funeral Service will be at Goodwin Funeral Home at 10:00 AM Monday, February 21, 2011 with the Reverend David Ray Futrell and Reverend John Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow at East End Cemetery in Cadiz, KY.
